7 Years Younger Instant Makeovers ~ Book Review

Who doesn’t want to look 7 Years Younger in an instant? I sure do! So I was happy to accept a copy of the new book from the editors of Women’s Day Magazine “7 Years Younger Instant Makeovers” to review and try out some of their ideas.

This book is different from the original bestselling “7 Years Younger – The Revolutionary 7-Week Anti-Aging Plan” because it offers quick and easy changes that can help anyone look younger in an instant. All the advise in the book is from industry experts like the editors at Women’s Day Magazine, Good Housekeeping, Laura Gellar, Sonia Kashuk, and Sue Pike who recommend specific products to help achieve the transformations.

The book contains over 100 quick fixes as well as longer term solutions for many of the problems women face as they age. One of the things I like most about the book is that it’s not just about makeup and hair (although the makeup and hair sections are great)! There are also chapters on fitness, food, sleep, and stress… four very important factors in how we look as we age.

The 9 chapters are color coded and well organized so you can quickly find your specific problem and the recommended fix. I found the book fun and easy to use and I really love it that the main focus is helping women look and feel their best rather than preaching cookie-cutter “rules” for aging woman to follow. I also liked that the product recommendations are from all price points so no matter your budget there’s something for you.

My Instant Makeover 1:

The “Fix It Fast” recommendation is to use a silicone-based primer (Boots No. 7 Stay Perfect Primer) “to create a silky barrier between your skin and makeup”, then use an “oil-free foundation to keep skin looking soft and smooth” (Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid), and finish with an oil absorbing powder (IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores HD Powder) “to blur pores’ appearance.”

Can I say “WOW” at my own results?!? I really hate the enlarged pores on my cheeks and the “orange peel” skin on my forehead in the before picture, and I really love how they’re GONE in the after! As an added bonus, by using both primer and finishing powder, my makeup lasted all day!

I liked the results on the pores so much, I decided to try another mini-makeover…

The “Fix It Fast” recommendation is to start by moisturizing lips to “plump and soften lips” (use your daily face cream with spf), then prevent feathering with a nude lip primer (e.l.f. Studio Lip Prime & Plumper) applied along the edge of the lips, and finish off with a sheer but dense liquid lipstick” in a strong color like watermelon or poppy. Wow again! The e.l.f. lip primer really works to fill in those vertical lines so they’re less visible and lipstick doesn’t settle into them.

I wasn’t expecting the tips to work as well as they do, or to love the book as much as I do. So if you’re looking for an anti-aging book, I can honestly recommend this one… I’m going to keep mine handy so I can reference the product recommendations, smoothie recipes, section on sleeping better (much needed lately), and mini-makeovers!
