Aging and Exercise

Glowing Skin and Strong Bones

I just finished my work-out, and it got me thinking about how hard it is to stay motivated as I age.
I have to silence the voice in my head that tells me I’m too tired, or have too much to do, and just do it! And I’m always so glad I did.
I try to work-out 3-4 times a week either biking or with at home DVDs. I’ve tried just about everything from aerobics, to kettle bells, pilates and hot yoga, but in the end, I’m not a social exerciser and I always come back to the DVDs. My point is, it doesn’t really matter what you do, as long as you enjoy it so you keep doing it.
Exercise really is the closest thing we have to the fountain of youth, and as we get older, its more important than ever before to stick with it.
Here are just a few benefits to doing moderate work-outs 3 times a week:
Boost the immune system and get endorphins flowing to fight off disease and elevate mood.
Bring blood to the surface of the skin, giving a youthful glow.
Aerobics helps the heart and lungs stay healthy.
Weight bearing exercise keeps muscles and bones strong.
Stretching keeps the joints loose and the body flexible.
So, when you’ve finished your work out, and you’re stretching those tired muscles, take a moment to appreciate the gift you’ve just given yourself and make a commitment to do it all over again in just a couple days! You’ll be glad you did.
