MAKEUP TRY ON
I demoed some products for you by doing a makeup try on! Some of them I had never used before and I wanted to make sure that they would be worth purchasing. I ended up discovering what could possibly be my new favorite everyday foundation and some other favorites.
Clinique Vitamin Foundation
I started this makeup demo by applying the new Clinique Even Better Clinical Vitamin Makeup Foundation to my face with the BK Beauty 109 Brush, which is like a smaller version of the BK 101 brush. I got this foundation in the shade light medium cool 1, which for me was a spot on color match.
It wasn’t a high coverage foundation, but it did even out my skin tone and was very pretty and skin-like. So, if you’re into a full coverage foundation, this one probably isn’t going to be your jam, but if you like a nice natural dewy, glowy look, this could be a perfect fit. This foundation also contains a broad spectrum SPF 45 which is just a great added bonus.
Revlon Glimmer Concealer
The concealer I used for this look was new but unfortunately is not a part of the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale. It’s the Revlon Glimmer Concealer which is part of a whole new line of products from Revlon, so I thought I’d give that a go. I got it in the shade 115 Brightener and it ended up being a pretty good color match for me.
I put a little bit at the inner corner under each eye, and of course, used my A506 brush to blend it out. It is such a perfect concealer brush because it really helps to spread and even out that concealer below your eyes without causing any streak marks. It also doesn’t pick up too much, so you don’t lose coverage, but it doesn’t lay the product down too heavily either. I mainly use the kitten paw surface to press the concealer under my eyes, but I also like to flip it over and use the tiny long hairs at the very tip. I often get concealer creasing in a tiny wrinkle right under my eye, so I use those longer hairs to pull it out of the crease.
Too Faced Cloud Crush Blush
I then went in with the Too Faced Cloud Crush Blush. This is supposed to be a blurring blush and the shade I got is Velvet Crush, a really pretty nude pink. I applied this product with is my A507 brush, which is a tapered angled blush brush. It has a very pretty finish and a little bit of a glow to it, but it doesn’t have any sparkle or shimmer. The way that it reflects light is just beautiful and I think that’s what causes the blurring effect. If I look at it up close I don’t really see that it’s made my pores disappear though.
NYX Wonder Snatch Powder
For the setting powder, I used the NYX Wonder Snatch Setting Powder, it’s also not part of the sale, but it is one of my favorite setting powders at the moment. I used the BK Beauty 108 brush to press the powder under my eyes and on the front of my cheeks, then swept away any excess product. I love how setting powder diminishes the look of my eye puffiness and pores and this one never disappoints.
Urban Decay Naked Shaped Palette
For the eyeshadow I used the Urban Decay Naked Shaped palette. I love this palette because it has four cream eyeshadows in the center as well as a nice selection of powder eyeshadows. I like to use the cream eyeshadows as my lid primer because it holds the eyeshadow in place really nicely and keeps it from creasing. So, I put the lightest cream color all over my movable lid and then I go in with the next darkest shade which is a taupe. I use that to disguise my sagging hood by placing it above the crease and at the inner contour of my eye. I really like the consistency of the creams because you can put it on with just your fingers.
Then I like to go in with the powder products and for that I use some eyeshadow brushes from my 7-Piece brush set. I used around six of the powder shades to create the finished eyeshadow look, so if you want a great step by step tutorial there’s one in today’s video! I just love this palette, I use it just about every day and it’s my go to palette while traveling too.
Persona Eyeliner
For the eyeliner, I used the Persona Cosmetics 24 HR Waterproof Eyeliners. I’ve had these for a long, long time and absolutely love them. They’re really, really good and I have them in the shades Plum and Black. I like them to do tight lining because they really are waterproof and they actually stay where you put them. This eyeliner is also very creamy and super easy to blend and work with.
L’Oreal Extensionist Mascara
For the mascara I used my new favorite from the drugstore, the L’Oreal Extensionist Mascara. This is beautiful mascara and it wears so well. It’s so easy to apply and it really gives me a lot of extra length. This mascara actually advertises that it is supposed to make your lashes look up to 5 mm closer to your brows. I didn’t measure the distance between my lashes and brows, but this mascara definitely gave my lashes a lot of extra length.
Lancome Butter Glow Lip Balm
The last new thing that I tried is the Lancome Butter Glow Hydrating Lip Balm. I got it in the shade 33 Idole Nude, which is a warm, pinky nude that looks really beautiful on. Since it’s supposed to be a lip balm, I didn’t use a lip liner with it. It felt creamy and hydrating on application and gave my lips a nice wash of color.
THE FINISHED LOOK
4 HOUR CHECK-IN
At the 4-hour check-in the Clinique Vitamin Foundation was wearing really, really well, especially considering that it had such sheer coverage. I think it still looked really good on my whole face and I loved the natural looking finish on it. The Too Faced Cloud Crush Blush was still on, still in place, and still really pretty. I was really loving the nice subtle sheen it had to it. The Lancome Butter Glow Lip Balm was definitely worn off. The color was gone and I can’t say that my lips felt the most hydrated that they’ve ever been. The Revlon Glimmer Concealer was doing okay, it was creased, but still in place and giving me coverage.
8 HOUR CHECK-IN
At the 8-hour check-in the Clinique Vitamin Foundation was still looking really nice. I was actually expecting this to crash and burn pretty hard around the 5 hour mark because it was so sheer going on, but I got to say it wore really, really well. It didn’t get shiny throughout the day and didn’t feel drying. It also didn’t settle in wrinkles too much throughout the day. This is a very pretty, natural looking foundation with a really great shade match, so I really like this one. The Too Faced Cloud Crush Blush is overall really pretty, but it was looking a little bit patchy at the 8-hour mark. It was still in place, but it looked like it had worn off unevenly. I also can’t really say it was blurring, but it does have a nice finish that reflects some light, without being overly shiny.
The Lancome Butter Glow Lip Balm had a really pretty color and I really liked the feel of it going on, but I didn’t love the wear on it. It wasn’t super hydrating throughout the day and my lips did feel a little bit dry by the time it was worn off. The Revlon Glimmer Concealer didn’t look terrible and the coverage was still really in place, but it was a little bit creased. This is probably one of the better drugstore concealers that I’ve purchased lately.
