Hi Angie…I don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve tried Australian Gold Botanical Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50 and Elta MD UV Elements SPF 44 and they both feel like they are sucking the moisture right out of my skin. I literally can feel it tightening. Also, I don’t think they look good under my makeup. I don’t get this feeling from some chemical sunscreens which seem much more moisturizing…do you think it’s the mineral ingredients that cause this? Can you make a recommendation for the most moisturizing mineral sunscreen or are the chemical sunscreens OK if my skin can tolerate them?

  You’re good with chemical sunscreens if they feel better on your skin. I always say, the best sunscreen for you is the one you LIKE wearing!

Thank you for your informative videos. I’ve learned so much!

I am wondering whether you’ve tried:

– Elta MD UV Clear (Tinted) sunscreen? It is a physical and chemical sunscreen, or

– Perricone MD’s Face Finishing & Firming Moisturizer (which contains a physical sunscreen SPF 30).

I would love to get your thoughts on those two items!

  Hi, I have tried Elta MD UV clear, but I don’t remember it being tinted although it could have been… it’s been a few years. I didn’t love it because the finish was too shiny for me. I haven’t tried the Perricone product. xo ~angie

Thanks for this video! My question is about the performance of CeraVe AM lotion under makeup? I am going to switch to Elat but still have half a bottle of the CeraVe AM.

Also, what sun protection do you use on your lips?

Hi Angie . I really glad and proud of my self because I found and subscribe to your great channel, because I learned a lot about skin care. Although I feel confused because you are carful at choosing ingredients in your skin products but in the same time you don’t care if your products contain Paraben, Sulfate, Silicon,PIG and Phenoxythanol. So can I know why you don’t care about those ingredients. I hear alot about how they can effect negatively on human health, so what do you think. I know you are not dermatologist but I know you know a lot about skin issues.
I purchased Cerave baby moisturizing lotion to use as face lotion only because it is Parabeb,sulfate and fregance free, and contains niacinamide, ceramide and hyaluronic acid.
So my second question is do you think it is good as face lotion although it has phenoxythanol at the beginning of its ingredients?
Just in case you need to know my skin is combo.

Hi Angie – Have you tried any of the setting sprays with spf? I’m looking for something where I can reapply over make up during the day (i.e, Coola, Super Goop, Max Prep & Prime). Are there any that you would recommend?

  I don’t recommend the SPF setting sprays. IMHO they don’t provide enough coverage with a couple of spritzes to give much protection + they’re super high in sd alcohol which can be drying for the skin. I much prefer the mineral SPF powders to the sprays. Derma E makes a really good one!

I have a question – do the mineral foundations made up primarily of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide provide sun protection? Could they replace sunblock/sunscreen?

  Hi Ana~ Foundations with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide probably provide some sun protection but if they don’t carry an spf rating on the label then they might not There’s more to formulating a sunscreen than just putting zo & td in a tube. If the foundation does have an spf rating on the label then you can use it as sunscreen but you need to use enough to get the full spf. It generally takes about 1/4 teaspoon of sunscreen for face & neck. I don’t know anyone who uses 1/4 teaspoon of foundation so it’s best to use a separate sunscreen, apply liberally and consider any sunscreen in the foundation an added bonus. ~Angie

I just read about DR WELLER’S SUNWELL SUNSCREEN that is supposed to allow the skin to release nitric oxide while blocking damaging rays. When possible I’d love to hear what your test of it shows!
