Empties August 2015
My empties bin is full once again, so it’s time to take a trip through my trash!
Here’s what I used up this month and whether I liked it enough to re-purchase. . .
Marc Anthony Bye Bye Frizz Shampoo*
This has been my go-to shampoo for over a year now. I still try other shampoos, but I keep coming back to Marc Anthony. The keratin seems to really penetrate my hair and help to calm my frizz. I went to Ulta to get more shampoo but they stopped carrying the Frizz version. I picked up a moisturizing version with Shea Butter and Marula Oil to get me through until I get my order from drugstore.com
Matrix Biolage FiberStrong Conditioner*
I’ve been using this conditioner for about a year as well and I love it! It really helps to keep my hair feeling healthy and looking less frizzy. I had stocked up last time I purchased this so I already had another in the closet waiting.
John Freida Frizz Ease Beyond Smooth Immunity Primer*
I just bought this product to try out a couple weeks ago so it isn’t actually in the trash, but the box it came in was. . . This product was love at first use!! It’s the first leave-in product that totally controlled my frizz. . . I’m stocking up on this one!
Banana Boat Sport Performance SPF 50+*
I actually used up two of these, the 8 oz. size pictured and the 12 oz. family size (I go through a LOT of sunscreen). It’s easy to apply, absorbs quickly, and doesn’t leave any trace on my skin while it protects with a mix of chemical UV screening ingredients that provide full broad spectrum coverage. I keep my sunscreen in my medicine cabinet and apply in the morning before I get dressed. With an SPF 50+, I’m protected all day if I’m mainly indoors and just going out briefly or driving. When going outside for longer periods I re-appy every 2 hours. I already got more because I like to have lots on hand all year round.
Jergens Natural Glow Firming Daily Moisturizer*
I stopped tanning the natural (and skin damaging) way years ago but that doesn’t mean I don’t like a golden glow for summer! I apply this self-tanner a few days a week to keep my fake tan looking fresh. Since it tans gradually over a few days there’s never a line where my tanned skin ends and my pale skin begins. I did repurchase this but in the medium/dark shade instead of the fair/light.
Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant*
Olay Regenerist MicroSculpting Cream*
I’ve used up another pot of my favorite night time moisturizer. I don’t know what it is about this cream, but it leaves my skin feeling baby soft in the morning. It contains peptides, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid. I buy it in the 2 pack at Costco and always have a supply in the closet.
Timeless Skincare 20% C + E Ferulic Acid Serum*
This lightweight, watery serum also contains Vitamin E and Ferulic acid which have been shown to increase efficacy of the vitamin C by 8-16 times. I apply 4-5 drops to face, neck, chest and backs of hands, every morning and a bottle lasts between 3 & 5 months. I’m never without my Timeless C serum so I always order a replacement before the bottle’s completely empty. $5 Off at Timeless Skincare use this link: https://www.timelessha.com/discount/HOTANDFLASHY ($5 discount will automatically be applied at checkout, no code needed)
Matrixyl is the combination of two peptides (palmitoyl oligopeptide and palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7) which have been shown to increase collagen stimulation and firm skin while reducing inflammation. This serum is 20% Matrixyl with moisturizing & soothing aloe, glycerin, and hyaluronic acid. This is a clear viscous liquid that spreads and absorbs easily leaving no greasy film. This was my 2nd bottle of Timeless Matrixyl serum I’ve gone through, and I really like it, but I didn’t repurchase it this time. I decided to try another Timeless product that contains the same amount of Matrixyl 3000 and the same other ingredients as this except that it also contains CoEnzyme Q10. $5 Off at Timeless Skincare use this link: https://www.timelessha.com/discount/HOTANDFLASHY ($5 discount will automatically be applied at checkout, no code needed)
Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night*
I’m trying this Neutrogena retinol product to help the skin on my neck look younger. When I use my prescription retinoid on my neck it gets very irritated, itchy, and red so I wanted to try something milder, but still possibly effective. This bottle lasted about 2 months of nightly use and I have repurchased it. I’ll re-evaluate it after 6 months to see if I think it’s doing anything. . .
