Angie, do you know of a great substitute for the Cerave PM — something that contains the HA, Niacinamide and ceramides/peptides? Cerave PM contains 4 ingredients that are somewhat toxic, according to the EWG’s “Skin Deep” database. So anyone with autoimmune, lyme, gut or hormonal issues have to be careful about these ingredients. I’ve searched for a long time, but hopefully you might know of something. Thank you!

  There really isn’t a comparable product to CeraVe PM. I take the EWG’s ratings with a grain of salt. IMHO they do a lot of fear mongering about ingredients that have a proven safety profile and are perfectly fine to include in small amounts in topical products.

  You can use toner in the morning if you want to. Over the years the purpose of toner has changed. It was originally used to adust the skin’s pH after washing with high pH soap based cleansers. Using gentle cleanser eliminates the need for toner. These days toner is more for adding more ingredients in a lightweight vehicle. I’ve already got all the ingredients I want in the am so there’s no need for toner.

Hi Angie,
I’m a new subscriber and love your channel very much. Thank you for doing this. I’m almost 54 and is not new to a daily skin care routine. Your channel have shown me a whole new way of mixing and layering. I’m old school this goes with this only and so on. I recently bought the Nuface and as you know it didn’t come with instruction but thanks to you I now know who to use it. I’m having a bit of problems with the Nuface gel though. It breaks me out terribly. Any suggestion on substitute?

I have a question about sunscreen. Why do we have to put sunscreen on when sunscreen is already in our foundation? I get that it’s a lower SPF, but just curious to know.

  Hi Jill~ Unless you’re using 1/4 teaspoon of foundation, you’re not getting the SPF # on the label. Sunscreen is dose dependent like all medicines. If you use 1 pump of foundation you’re cutting the sunscreen down my 75% so a foundation with SPF 20 is now an SPF 4… not exactly enough to do the job. xo ~angie

I’m 46 – but have followed your routine for skin care for just one month – and WOW, my skin looks SO much better already. I’m getting compliments almost every day. I’m also eating better and exercising – trying to get ahead of the aging process before I turn 50 – and your good advise has been so helpful. Hi Angie, first of all you are a wealth of knowledge! I’ve always used basic skincare until I found your videos, you’ve taken it to a whole new level for me!… Vitamin A, Vitamin C serums, peptides, anti oxidants and the importance of using enough sunscreen! Your videos are so professional, you speak so well and answer my questions as soon as they pop in my mind! I love your product recommendations! So thank you for all you do! Please keep it coming, love the updates!
I have a couple questions (you may have addressed in other videos I apologize), can you recommend vitamin A or some type of rentinol for the body in a moisturizer? Can you layer retinol With a retinoid, for example Elizabeth Arden’s retinol ceramide capsules with tretinoin? Thank you!

  You can layer retinol with a prescription retinoid but it’s kind of a waste of the retinol so I wouldn’t buy a retinol cream on purpose. But if it comes in a product with other ingredients you like it’s ok. xo ~angie

prescription Tretinoin 0.05% once per week and I was wondering if I could use an over the counter Retinol like Olay Revitalift on the days I am not using the prescription Tretinoin?

Every time I introduce one I have small white heads all over my face.
I stop the product and they go away.

I have just purchased the Timeless vitamin c, e/Ferulic acid& coenzyme q10. You use this in the morning is there a reason for this or can I use in the evening? The only other products I am using at the moment are the ordinary Retinoid of a night & cereva pm lotion.

  Hi Elishia~ Wow! Tasmania is far away, I love how the internet unites the world!! You can use the Timeless serums at night if you want. I use them in the morning because I use my prescription tretinoin at night and I want to avoid irritation with my sensitive skin so just keep an eye out for any redness or stinging but with an OTC retinol you should be fine! xo ~angie

Hi Angie,
I just turned 50 in July. I have just been introduced to your channel. I just received my trial order of Curology. I was prescribed 4% Niacinamide, 0.009% Tretinoin, and 2% Tranexamic Acid. I have been using it 3 days a week for about a week now. My skin is extremely dry and peeling. I have also been using Curology’s Rich Moisturizer. I’m trying to ease into this, but I’m feeling like I look older instead of younger right now! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I was curious if you have every tried Environ Skin Care? I was using this before I found your channel. It is very expensive but my skin tolerated it very well, using their step-up program.

  Hi Colleen~ I’d say it’s more important to work the acid based serums in gradually (vitamin c, lactic, salicylic) but the others are hydrating so you can start them all at one (unless you have sensitive skin, then it’s always best to bring in one at a time). xo ~angie

I absolutely love love love your videos and website. My husband hasn’t seen me for weeks as I have been binge-watching your videos like crazy. Question: is there an alternative to the Drunk Elephant TLC Sukari Babyfacial Mask? I live in Canada and finding it hard to find a provider that will ship it here… It is also very expensive… Just wondering if you had any other alternatives. Thanks and keep up the good work! 🙂

      Hi Caty~ the CoQ10 contains 8% Matrixyl 3000 and the Matrixyl contains 8% Matrixyl 3000 so might as well get the CoQ10… more bang for the buck! xo ~angie

Angie, your videos and suggestions are SO helpful!
I’m wondering if you have a skincare guide for your arms and legs. Do you use Alpha Skincare on them every day or do you alternate with Olay Quench? Do you apply in the AM & PM?
I use sunless tanning lotion (Jergens Natural Glow) all year round. I find that the color starts to break up on my neck and around my wrists and ankles after about a week. I have to scrub it off and start over. Do you know why this might happen and how I might avoid it? I’m using Alpha Skincare to exfoliate continuously and I use the moisturizers you suggest.

  Hi Debbie, I don’t have a dedicated post on my body skincare routine. I use Alpha Glycolic lotion every other day in the morning. I use Olay Quench or CeraVe in the tub on the other days in the morning. xo ~angie

Just wanted to say a big ‘thank you’ Angie for your posts, videos and skin care hep and support. I’m in Australia and we do struggle to try and get the products here, but I can manage finding quite a few. I will use substitutes as recommended above.
I am 55 and was a sun worshiper and am finally taking great care of my skin thanks to your help. Love how you demonstrate how to use them and all your make up tips. My first time wearing sunscreen every day now.

    I found Differin through a lot of online research. I have been using it a few times a week on my nose and t-zone. I have always had congested skin, though I take very good care of it. For me it has been amazing! They blackheads are gone. Also, I’m 54 and taking hormone therapy. As a result, suddenly I had little white heads on my forehead like when I was a teenager. It also eradicated those! I still have congested skin, but it is so much better. I’m going to try and use it a little more often. I have sensitive skin, and I have not had any negative reaction to the product. Just use a small amount!

Hi Angie, I’m live in Australia and have followed your channel since you started. Love, love, love your channel. I find the Vit c during the day doesn’t agree with my skin, so I used it in the evening before I apply the Retin A and had no problem. I did this a few times, but wanted to ask your opinion on this, Is it ok to do this? Many thanks for helping us girls out whatever asge we are with real facts and your own skin to show us!!

Hi Angie, I’m 62 and have been following your skincare routine for 4 years next month. Even my dermatologist complimented me on my skin’s texture.
I have just ordered the Tao unit so thank you for the 50% discount.
It’s becoming very expensive to import US products with our Australian dollar. I believe Aldi products are very good and wonder if you’d consider doing a review on the mature skin range?

I am in the course of buying the whole list J. Unfortunately, Maelove is not available in Switzerland. The good thing is that The ordinary and Timeless is available. From the 2 Maelove serums you use, would any serum of The ordinary or Timeless be a good alternative?

I’ve ordered the CE Ferulic, Coenzyme Q10 and Matrixyl Synthe 6 from Timeless and plan to start using them this week. Is there a scientific reason that you use the first 2 in the morning and the Matrixyl in the evening? Just curious if I can use all of them at once or if I should spread them out as you do. I plan to add Resveratrol somewhere, too.

Also, I use the SKII FTE once a day — where does that fit in here?

This is such valuable information Angie, the time and effort you take to keep us updated is so appreciated, actually I don’t know how we’d sift through all the products on our own. I love going into Sephora or Ulta but….it can be completely overwhelming. I do get samples to try various things at home over a few days and that really helps to save money. I’d say, with all your tutorials my skin and makeup has never looked better, so I thank you and always look forward to every bit of informative you provide weekly.

I have been following your advice re acclimatising skin to using prescription tretanoin, thank you so far so good. I am about to increase the usage to three times a week but have a question that I was hoping you could answer for me?
Could I just give you a little background – I am using a online prescription company, Dermatica (similar to Curology) the first batch was 0.25%, which I haven’t finished yet, the second months batch was going to be 0.50% but I explained what advice (yours) I was following and asked them stick to the 0.25%. They were really happy that I was being cautious but the question is …..
When should I have the increase in strenght?

  Hi Anna~ When you can use the current percentage every night without any irritation or peeling then you can start working in the next higher percentage. I’d keep using the lower percentage most nights and just bring in the new cream one night a week and increase over time. xo ~angie

Hi Angie,

1. Do you refrigerate just the serums, tretinoin cream and toners? And leave all other products at room temperature?

2. Is the Neutrogena hydro boost gentle cleansing lotion your year-around cleanser, or is it just for the cold months?

3. Is it more beneficial to use the Nuface Trinity in the morning, rather than in the evening?

4. Do you still recommend Cerave cleanser? I don’t wear makeup daily so then I don’t need to do a double cleanse.

5. Is it possible for you to review undereye patches/masks?

I absolutely love all your advice, and your holy grails have now become mine. Thank you for your amazing videos!

  Hi Anastasia~ I only refrigerate products with ingredients that oxidize over time so retinoids, antioxidants, and AHAs, standard moisturizers don’t need refrigeration. I’m using the Neutrogena Hydro Boost cleanser all year round. You can keep using the CeraVe if you like it. You can use NuFace morning or night, whenever it fits into your schedule best. I’m not a big user of eye patches or masks in general so probably won’t do a dedicated review on them. xo ~angie

I just wanted to say thank you for all of your information. I am 55 and like you have said skin changes! I have never had a skin routine but aging skin requires it and its been great having someone who understands that and helps with all of these questions!! I personally have been using Drunk Elephant products that my skin absolutely loves:) I did try a few different ones just to make sure and I have come back to Drunk Elephant! But thanks to you I now understand why these products are important! So Thank You! … And please don’t stop with the videos on clothing hair and makeup! Through process of elimination I have chosen Clinique PepStart mineral sunblock for face and WELL PEOPLE tinted moisturizer as my foundation. I don’t know if you ever tried their products but I just love them. Thanks again!
