Foundation Routine for Younger Looking Flawless Skin

When I want a flawless makeup look, I find the best way to achieve it at my age is to use thin layers of different tinted products rather than a thick layer of full-coverage foundation. The thicker foundations just seem to cake in my wrinkles, settle into my pores and in general make me look older and worse rather than younger or better! Layering different types of foundation gives a more natural “lit from within” look and is my favorite foundation routine for younger looking flawless skin.

If you want to follow along at home, you don’t have to have the exact same products or brands, but try to use products that offer sheer rather than full coverage for best results.
For this tutorial I used:

  • MAC Select MoistureCover Concealer in NW25
  • MD SolarSciences Mineral Tinted Creme
  • Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid Makeup in 2CN1
  • IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation in Medium Beige
  • Maybelline Master Glaze Blush in “Just Pinched Pink”
  • NYX Blush in Peach
  • IT Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Ombre Bronzer
  • IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores HD Powder
  • NYX Mist & Set Setting Spray
  • Tarte Lipsurgence Matte in “Lovely”

Step 1: Concealer

Apply concealer to the dark shadowed side of under-eye bags, sides of nose, and any discolorations.

Step 2: Tinted Sunscreen

Apply a liberal amount of Tinted Sunscreen with spf 30 or above all over face and neck

Step 3: Sheer Foundation

Use a stippling brush or blending sponge to apply an even coat of sheer foundation like Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid Foundation. Using a brush or sponge rather than fingers lessens the chance of the products reacting and sloughing off.

Step 4: Powder Foundation

Use a powder brush to apply powder foundation. Work from the center of the face outward using circular motions and going in both directions to help minimize the look of pores.

Step 5: Cream Blush

Apply cream blush to the highest point of cheek bones from below the eye to the ear and blend with a stippling brush.

Step 6: Bronzer

Place bronzer beneath cheek bones and around the hairline to define the planes of the face.

Step 7: Powder Blush

Apply powder blush on top of cream blush and blend down into bronzer. Avoid putting blush too far forward on the cheek to keep it away from tear troughs and hollow areas.

Step 8: Setting Powder
