Got Makeup? Get an Instant Eyelid Lift Eyeshadow Tutorial

There are all kinds of great eyeshadow looks, but there’s one that really works to give me an instant eyelid lift! Once hooded eyelids age, the skin can become saggy and crepey making it really difficult to apply eyeshadow, so this look takes some practice and good tools to get right. I couldn’t do eyeshadow like this 18 months ago, but with a lot of practice and some new brushes, I’ve upgraded my skills to the point that people ask me if I’ve had an eyelid lift when I wear this look!

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

Step 1:

Using a your finger or a flat brush (IT Cosmetics No Tug Flat Eyeshadow Brush), spread a thin layer of Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal in “Barely Branded” over the moveable part of the eyelid starting at the lash line and blending up slightly above the crease, add a little to the inner corner of each eye. Then use MAC Paintpot in “Painterly” to prime the rest of the eyelid above the Color Tattoo up to the eyebrows.

Step 2:

Using a small stiff brush (Eyeshadow brush from Costco Set), apply the lightest shade from the palette (Venus) just below the eyebrow.

Step 3:

Using a  soft shadow brush, (IT Cosmetics “No Tug” All Over Shadow Brush) apply “Foxy” over the eyelid starting at the lash line and blending just above the crease.

Naked Color 1 Lid

Step 4:

Using a soft crease brush, (IT Cosmetics “No Tug” Crease Blending Brush) apply “Naked 2” in an arc above the crease by placing the brush in the center above the iris and blending side to side. Use your brush handle to visualize a line from outer corner of eyebrow to outer corner of eye. Remember to keep all shadows inside this line for a lifted effect.

Step 5:

Using a small pointed crease brush, (Chikuhodo Z-10) place “Faint” on top of the taupe shadow, angle the brush up and out as though drawing a line from the corner of the eye toward the outer corner of the brow stopping half way. Then turn the brush horizontal and place more shadow above the crease at the outer third of the eyelid.

Step 6:

With a  soft blending brush, (Sonia Kashuk Crease Brush) blend “Faint” upward into the taupe color using circular motions and leaving most of the eyelid light.

Step 7:

Using the same small crease brush apply “Crave” along the lash line from above the iris to the outer corner of the eye, drawing the line out and up toward the brow about 1/4 inch.

Step 8:

Blend using the Sonia Kashuk Crease brush to soften.

Step 9:

Line the lower lashes with Wet & Wild Shimmer Eye Pencil in “Silver”

Step 10:

Line the upper lid above the lashes.

Step 11:

Curl eyelashes. I’m using a Salon Perfect heated eyelash curler.

Step 12:

Apply Cover Girl Clump Crusher Mascara to upper lashes.

Fill in eyebrows with IT Cosmetics “Your Brows But Better” Brow Pencil.
