Holiday Party LookBook 2015
Looking for ideas on what to wear to that holiday party? It can be hard to figure out what’s the right thing to wear for different occasions, especially once you’re over 50. I’m showing 3 types of looks here, first is an office to work party look, second is for dinner in the city or a house party with friends, and third is for a dress-up (not black tie) party!
This year the trends are all about embellishments: faux leather, metallics, faux fur, lace, and sequins, but which are right for you? I’m loving the faux leather and the metallic accents, but the faux fur and lace just aren’t my cup of tea.
Holiday dressing is about amping up the festive-factor while still being comfortable and feeling like you, only better. It’s important to know what flatters your figure and go for those pieces that make you feel confident & hot!
Here are some outfits I’ll be wearing this season!
Office to Work Party:
For a lunch time office celebration, or transitioning from work to the office get-together I recommend wearing your black work pants or pencil skirt, changing into a party top, swapping out your sensible pumps for strappy heels and upping the sparkle by adding a statement necklace and festive earrings.
The peplum top is figure flattering and I love the zipper details on this tuxedo inspired jacket!

Cocktails After Work or At A Friend’s House:
This bright asymmetrical top from BCBG is the perfect thing for any cocktail party. It’s festive and comfortable and the length works well with faux-leather side-panel leggings. Olive green or tan suede peep-toe booties complete the look.

Dinner & A Show In The City:
I feel like I’m going overboard on faux-leather but when I tried on this top I just had to have it! It’s so hip and modern and I know I’ll get tons of wear out of it! The burgundy color is so unexpected and a nice diversion from the usual black leather. I put the top with these black velvet super skinny jeans from AG and my Calvin Klein strappy sandals. My ‘burning rays’ necklace completes the look!

Fancy Holiday Party 1:
This dress puts a modern spin on the ‘little black dress’ updating it with faux leather and a fit & flare silhouette. The back view of this dress is really beautiful. Here in New England black tights and dressy boots are a must because of the weather. I’ve kept the jewelry simple to let the dress speak for itself.

Fancy Holiday Party 2:
I don’t actually have a fancy party to wear this to, but I fell in love with this skirt and jacket so I hope an invitation comes my way! I love pairing a sporty racer-back tank with a fancy skirt. The individual pieces in this look can be dressed up or down but when combined they create a fun, festive, dressy look!
I grew up wearing panty hose back in the day and back then you’d never go out with naked legs, but it’s 2015 now and if you want to wear strappy sandals then naked legs it is!! Of course if it’s snowing, I’d probably throw on tights and booties!
This champagne faux-leather péplum jacket cinches in at the waist for a figure flattering silhouette.
