I did a makeup try on and wear test for four new products that either I’ve been wanting to try or you have requested me to try. They are the IT Cosmetics Do It All Sheer Tint Face Balm, the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Blur Concealer, the Lancome Curl Goddess Mascara, and the Anastasia Haze Palette. I tested the products over two days, trying them on with different methods and products to get an idea of how good they really are. This wear test is going to be on my more mature, less than perfect skin with the goal of making it look better than it is. I’ll show you the final makeup look in studio lighting, up close, in natural light, and in outdoor direct sunlight. I’ll then do a 5-hour and 10-hour check-in each day to see if the makeup can also stand the test of time.

DAY 1

The Base

I started this makeup try on with the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Airyfit Sunscreen as my base. It’s very hydrating but does give more of a matte finish, which I thought would help minimize the look of my enlarged pores.

I then went in with the Thrive Causemetics Eyelid Primer to help hold my eyeshadow look in place. This is a waterproof eyeshadow primer and I think it really helps cover up any discolorations, sagging skin, or eyelid creases.

IT Cosmetics Tinted Face Balm

The Do It All Sheer Tint Face Balm is a new release from IT Cosmetics that is $34 for 0.63 ounces of product. It says it’s a 92% skincare serum, which I always take with a grain of salt because skincare is dose dependent. We tend to not use enough of any makeup product for the dose to be considered effective skincare. While I do think it is nice for makeup to have skincare ingredients I wouldn’t consider it a swap for your skincare by any means.

BK Beauty 115 Foundation Brush

This product comes in 15 shades, I usually take light medium neutral but that one was sold out so I went with medium neutral. I always prefer to go warmer over cooler if necessary, but I did find this one to be a bit too warm for me. It’s a lightweight balm that does feel like emollient skincare going on. I applied this with a BK Beauty 115 Foundation Brush by dipping it right into the product and then sweeping across my face.

Charlotte Tilbury Concealer

The next product I tested was the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Blur Concealer which retails for $36. This comes in 34 shades and some how the shade I wanted for this was also sold out! So, I got this concealer in both shades 4 and 5 since I was hoping to get it in 4.5. This is supposed to be a light as air full coverage concealer with elastic stretch and up to 24-hour creaseless wear. It is also meant to hydrate the skin with “Phytoyouth Essence”, hyaluronic acid, and squaline.

BK Beauty A506 Kitten Paw Concealer Brush

For the day one makeup look I used this in the shade 5 medium and placed it under my eyes. I then used my A506 Kitten Paw Concealer Brush to blend that out. This product is supposed to be blurring which would definitely be helpful on the under eyes. While my skin did look really smooth I can’t say there was a blurring effect. Right after application, it gave me that full coverage look while still being very skin-like and hydrating.

Powder Products

Next, I applied two products that I’ve really been loving for giving my face some color and dimension. These are the Saie Supersuede Bronzer in Palermo and the Saie SuperSuede Talc-Free Blush in Bella. Both just blend out so nicely on the skin and come in such flattering colors.

I then set my under eye concealer before it had a chance to crease, with the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores HD Powder. I used the BK Beauty 108 Precision Powder Brush to powder under my eyes, down my T-zone, and on the fronts of my cheeks to disguise the pores there.

Anastasia Haze Palette

The next new product I tested was the Anastasia Haze Eyeshadow Palette which retails for $32. It has nine pans of color that are a mix of mattes and shimmers. I used the eyeshadow brushes that are part of my 7-Piece Brush Set to apply the eyeshadow look. First I used my A501 brush in the lightest shade, A1, and placed that all over my lids. Next, I used my A502 brush to place the shade A3 on the outer halves of my lids. Then I went in with my A504 brush using shade B3 to create a little wing by the outer corners. I then dipped into shade B2 with my A505 brush and applied the shimmer below the crease. With the same brush I picked up the shade C2 and darkened the outer corners a bit more, Finally, I used my A503 brush to blend the eyeshadows and create the finished look.

There unfortunately was quite a bit of fallout, so I tried the old tape trick to pick some of it up. While it did work at getting that fall out off, it also picked up a lot of the concealer. Since there were a few naked spots, I put on a little bit more of the Charlotte Tilbury Concealer and repowdered the under eyes. For this reason I did cut the concealer a lot of slack on day one.

Lancome Curl Goddess Mascara

The last new product and final product for the day one look was the Lancome Curl Goddess Mascara. This retails for $30 and is a curling and volumizing mascara inspired by hair styling technology.

Lancome Curl Goddess Mascara

It’s supposed to be a fast setting, clump and flake resistant formula that gives you an 800% increase in volume. Upon application I really liked this mascara and I hoped there wouldn’t be any flaking like it advertises.

Day One 5-Hour Check-In

At the 5-hour check-in I felt as though the IT Cosmetics Tinted Face Balm had oxidized a little because every time I saw myself in a mirror I looked more and more orange. It looks so much warmer than my neck and chest, so for day two I decided to try the lighter shade I purchased.

On day one I really was not loving the face balm. My nose was really shiny, it had really worn off around my nostril, and it was gathering up in my smile lines. I feel like the Charlotte Tilbury Concealer looked super dry and even though I said I was going to give it a break, I have never seen my skin look so dry and crinkly after only 5 hours of wear.

Day One 10-Hour Check-In

By the 10-hour check-in, the main thing that I was noticing about the IT Cosmetics Tinted Face Balm is that it was looking pretty shiny through my T-zone. This really bummed me out because shininess just accentuates enlarged pores and texture, which is the exact opposite of what I want makeup to do. It was also very patchy and unevenly worn off on my nose and forehead. I also wasn’t loving the Charlotte Tilbury Concealer, but because of the circumstances I did try it again in a lighter shade on day two.

Luckily, I was pretty happy with the other two new products, the Anastasia Haze Palette and the Lancome Mascara. Although the eyeshadow got off to a bad start with the fallout, it still is such a pretty palette and the look did last throughout the day. I’ll just have to make a mental note to use it before I put my makeup on. The mascara I think was actually really good because it made my lashes look much longer, fuller, and even a little more curled. There also wasn’t any flaking, chipping, or smudging which I always look for in a good mascara.

DAY 2

A New Start

For day two I took a different approach to see if I could give the foundation and concealer a chance to redeem themselves. The base for the day two look was once again sunscreen and the Thrive Causemetics Eyelid Primer. However, I switched up the sunscreen and tried out the Healthy Skin Labs Tinted Sunscreen, which is a more emollient, hydrating mineral sunscreen.

I then started the makeup look by doing my eyeshadow first so I could clean up any fallout off of my face and avoid messing up the concealer later on. I did the same eyeshadow look as the day before, once again using the Anastasia Haze Eyeshadow Palette and my 7-Piece Brush Set. I also applied the Lancome Curl Goddess Mascara to complete the eyes for this makeup look.

IT Cosmetics Tinted Face Balm

For the IT Cosmetics Do It All Sheer Tint Face Balm I used a lighter shade on day two, which was light neutral 210. I applied it the same way, dipping my BK Beauty 115 Foundation Brush directly into the product and sweeping it onto my face. The lighter shade definitely matched my neck better and it evened out my skin tone, which I liked.

However, it just was not sitting well on top of the sunscreen, they looked separated from each other. So, to try to blend them together better, I dampened a blending sponge and dabbed it on my skin. This really helped everything look much better and more smooth.

Under Eyes

I used the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Blur Concealer again, but this time in the lighter shade four to match the lighter foundation. For day two I was really hoping to see if this concealer was truly blurring and if the dryness was caused by the eyeshadow fallout situation.

NYX Matte Mineral Powder

Unfortunately it looked nice for about 2 minutes and was already creasing by the time I went in with setting powder. I did also try a different setting powder for day two to see if it would help with the wear of the concealer. I used the NYX Matte Mineral Powder and applied it to the same areas as day one with the BK Beauty 108 Brush. This powder does give a bit more luminosity, whereas I prefer a matte under eye.

Finishing Touches

To finish up the day two makeup look, I filled in my eyebrows with the Jones Road Brow Pencil in the shade Ash.

I then applied a really pretty lip combo and both products were from Milani. I used the Keep It Full Lipliner in the shade Go All Pout paired with the Keep It Full Glossy Plumping Balm in shade 140 Moi.

Day Two Final Look

Day Two 5-Hour Check-In

At the 5-hour check-in for the makeup it looked fine from a distance, and when I saw myself in a mirror I thought it looked nice and fairly luminous. However, when I looked in my 30X magnifying mirror, I could see all the problems with it. Overall, the IT Cosmetics Tinted Face Balm is comfortable to wear and it feels very hydrating. There are a couple of places that it settled in my forehead wrinkles and the shine still came through around my nose. I just don’t think that it’s ever going to give 10 hours of solid wear, at least on someone with combo skin. People with drier skin, it may wear completely differently on.

As for the Charlotte Tilbury Concealer, this was so settled in my wrinkles, it was accentuating my wrinkles, and looked so cracked and cakey. I am so disappointed, I was really hoping there was user error on day one and that this would actually be pretty good. The Lancome Mascara wore fantastically once again, but I will say it was a little bit more difficult to get off than my regular mascara. So, if you’re someone who doesn’t like to struggle getting your mascara off or have to do a double cleanse, you might not like this one. But if you want something that stays in place, and doesn’t flake, chip, or smudge, it’s a good one.

Day Two 10-Hour Check-In

At the 10-hour mark the IT Cosmetics Tinted Face Balm was getting really shiny again and I just felt so greasy. The Charlotte Tilbury Concealer was looking truly atrocious, it had settled into my wrinkles ten times more than it was at the 5-hour check in.

Overall, save your money on this concealer and on the tinted balm. I just don’t think they’re very good and there are other foundations that I like a lot better. If you’re looking for a natural look on your skin, I really like the Clinique Vitamin Foundation for roughly the same price point.
