Look 10 Years Younger in 10 Minutes! Over 50!

I don’t know about you but I wake up looking every bit of my 57 years in the morning and with quarantining it’s tempting to stay that way all day! But what if I get a FaceTime Call, or have to go to the store, or get on a Zoom meeting? Is that the person I want to present to the world?

Usually not, but fortunately it only takes 10 Minutes and 5 easy steps to look 10 years younger and more put together!

Watch the video here to see the full transformation from head to toe!

Step 1: Cover Greys & Style Hair

Life was so easy before grey hair! Now I have to hide my grey roots by coloring my hair every 6-8 weeks. But it only lasts about 2 weeks before the greys start showing again so I’ve found a temporary color solution for in between colorings. My quick fix is root touch-up spray! It covers grey hair in seconds and it’s waterproof so it stays put when you sweat, shower, or get rained on!

My favorite is Rita Hazan Root Concealer in Light Brown is available at (Sephora) & (Amazon). I also like L’Oreal Root Cover Up in Light Brown (Ulta) & (Amazon). Of course there’s nothing wrong with grey hair and if you’re growing yours out or have gone grey then you’d skip this part and just spend a couple minutes styling your hair.

When I get up my hair is always a little rumpled and frizzy looking so if I want to look my best I run a flat iron over it or use a curling iron to help it look more organized & presentable! My favorite hot tool is my InStyler Rotating Iron available at (Amazon) & (eBay). It can be used to straighten or curl! I’ll actually do this step after Step 2 so I can pull my hair back to wash my face.

Step 2: Swap Glasses for Contact Lenses

Of course there’s nothing wrong with glasses, and I understand that not everyone can or is willing to wear contacts, but if you haven’t tried contacts and think you might like them, then I encourage you to give them a try!

I’ve only been wearing glasses for a about a year so I’m just not used to the feeling or the look of them. They hurt my nose after a few hours and they leave marks on my face. With my contacts, my vision is better than with glasses and they don’t mark up my face or hurt my nose so I just prefer contacts to glasses & I also think wearing them helps me look younger.

Step 3: Wash Your Face & Apply Skincare

When I first wake up in the morning my skin looks a little dry and more crinkly than after I put on my skincare. Washing your face or just splashing with water helps the skin to absorb some water which instantly plumps skin and then adding serums or moisturizer locks that water into the skin so it looks more youthful! Rubbing in skincare helps wake up the skin and get the blood flowing which adds a youthful glow.

Step 4: Apply A Little Makeup

Now that I’m over 50, my skin isn’t as smooth or even toned as I’d like and that makes me look a little older so I start every day with a tinted sunscreen to even out my skin tone and disguise my age spots! Today I’m using MyChelle Sun Shield Liquid Tint SPF 50 in Nude Light/Medium, instead of foundation. It serves double duty by protecting my skin from the sun’s damaging rays while making my skin look more youthful. It comes in 3 shades and it looks so natural on the skin with a soft satin/matte finish that’s not dry looking or dry feeling.

I’ll also add some eyeliner, mascara, lipgloss, and blush to look more polished and to replace some of the color and contrast that I’ve lost with age. I’m using Essence Extreme Lasting Eyeliner in “But First Espresso” on my upper lash line, a coat of L’Oreal Unlimited Length & Lift Mascara in Blackish Brown to beef up my lashes, I’m patting a tiny bit of Glossier Cloud Paint Cheek Color in Beam on my cheeks to highlight my cheekbones, and Buxom Full On Lip Cream in “Dolly” to hydrate & accentuate my lips. I have a slightly oily t-zone so I’ll also add a light dusting of Honest Beauty Invisible Blurring Loose Powder to keep my t-zone mattified.

Step 5: Elevate the Outfit

Since I’m working from home I want to stay in comfy clothes but I want to elevate my outfit from sweats and a tee to more coordinated athleisure separates!

I have on my Dog Mom Tee Shirt, Sweat Pants, Slippers, & Glasses in the before picture and I love them but they definitely aren’t playing up my best features or helping me feel more confident.

I’m switching up the outfit while still staying with athletic wear by swapping out the baggy sweatpants for a much cuter pair of snake print leggings with solid panels that help to make my legs look curvier. I’m replacing the crew neck t-shirt with a V-Neck Sleeveless Tee that visually elongates my neck and accentuates my arms. The longer length & curved hem helps me look taller and leaner overall. My cozy sleep bra flattens my chest so I’ve traded it for a more supportive bra that gives me more shape. slippers are replaced by a cute pair of athletic sneakers. Add a few accessories like a necklace, a fitbit, & a bracelet and you’re ready for whatever the day has in store!
