Which primer and pore minimizer do you recommend and when are those used in the mornings? After the moisturizer with spf ?

  Pore minimizing primers should be used after skincare and sunscreen (after letting sunscreen set up for 15-20 minutes). I can’t say that most pore minimizing primers actually do much to minimize my pores especially after I put foundation on top of them. My current faves are Revlon Pore Control Primer and Farsali Skintune Blur primer.

Hi Angie love watching your video’s and such and was pleased to see many the products you suggest i myself use with great results ! Quick question some of your products you suggest have silicone listed wondering how you feel about that ingredients as I have read it can clog pores but maybe you are more on the dry side ? Also the sunscreen you use I have been sunscreen user forever and although lots of good stuff in the two you have chosen both are very low in zinc and from what I have understood the higher the zinc the better ? Also been reading that the kakadu plum which is listed in the sunscreen from Australia is better than vitamin c more concentrated are you looking at that as a better up than vitamin c ?? Sorry so many questions but would love your feedback ! Oops one more question how do you feel about the matrixyl serum did you see a difference lots of people raving about it !   Hi Melody~ A few years ago I had some acne and was anti- silicone for a while. Since then I realized that silicone had nothing to do with my acne (it was hormonal and going silicone-free didn’t cure it) and after looking into silicone, I’m fine with it in products in moderation. My skin is combo so slightly oily in the t-zone, mainly normal and a little dry around the chin and I find that products with loads of silicone tend to slide around on my oilier areas. It’s really not the amount of zinc that determines the SPF or PA rating, it’s what else is in the formula, the type of zinc used and actual testing on human skin that determines the spf number on the label. I have sunscreens with 20% zinc that are spf 30 and sunscreens with 4% zinc that are spf 50. The maximum safe amount of zinc allowed is 25%. I never noticed Kakadu plum extract in the AG sunscreen so I was not looking to add more vitamin c through this sunscreen but it’s fine that it’s in there since vitamin C and sunscreen work well together. I love the matrixyl serum, been using it for 5 years! xo ~angie

Hi! Just received my first free application from curology that you suggested in another video. So far, so good. It is emollient so would suggest using serums etc at night with it. It’s .02 tretinoin, 5% vitamin C and 4% niacinamide. I know they are low dose but needed to know if Timeless could be added. What’s your opinion?
I’m an Angie addict so thank you for your videos.

I have purchased just about everything on the list with the exception of the Retin-A. I replaced it with Eau Thermale Avène: RetrinAL 0.1 Intensive Cream. So my question is HOW do I get started? Should I jump in and use everything every day or should I easy my skin into the routine. I’m 52 and never really had much of a skin-care routine. Thanks!

  I’d recommend starting in stages giving your skin time to acclimate to so many active ingredients. I’d start using the CoQ10, CeraVe PM, Sunscreen & Matrixyl Synthe 6 every day. Try using the Avene Retrinal one or two nights a week to start, then if that goes well, add in the Vitamin C serum a couple days a week and work up to every day with both over time. Add in the Lactic Acid over time. Always keep an eye on your skin and back off if you develop any irritation (redness, burning, dry skin). Good luck!

  No, none of the products on this printable guide were gifts. I purchase them all. The only expensive one is Revitalash at $150 but it does bork and a tube lasts me about 9 months. All the other topicals are $30 or under.

I am really curious if you apply a hand cream throughout the day and which is your favorite. I get dry hands and always keep a little tube on cream in my purse and since it’s time to get another tube I wanted to see what you use.

Hi Angie, have just found your videos. Am now an addict! Looking back at your videos from a few years ago I notice you actually look younger now – especially around the eyes. I have very hooded eyes (56 years old) – I think I saw a video where you are using retin-A on your eye lids but can’t find it again Is that your eye lid secret?   The Ordinary also makes a 10% Lactic acid but it could be too strong. Sundae Riley and Colleen Rothschild both have lactic acid serums but they’re MUCH more expensive.

Iv been following your skin care routine about a month now, I have just reviced The Ordinary 5% Lactic Acid + HA 2%: You have got on your skin care routine above that you put this on Am but on the box it has Pm , any reason why? If you use it Am do you have to stay out of the completely ?
Another question I’ve been using and Retin -A .05 for a month now . I went out on the weekend to a lady luncheon I was outside for awhile . That night I noticed that I have a new sunspot on my face , is that from the Retin -A ? & sun , I’m quite upset about this .

Hello Angie,
I was prescribed retinal by my doctor but have been afraid to use it because I get my eyebrows and whiskers waxed and I’ve been told that if you use retinal and then get waxed it will pull your skin off. I don’t know how true this is, but it scared me enough not to try it 🙂 How do you keep your facial hair groomed?

  Hi Melanie~ Sadly, it is true. I learned the hard way and that was the last time I had my brows waxed. For me, using Retin-A is more important than waxing but I’m not very hairy. I can easily manage my brows by plucking them every other week or so. Threading also works well for people who use Retin-A but you have to figure out what fits best into your life. xo ~angie

I have realized that I needed a magnifying mirror because I just can’t see anymore. I was looking and then I heard about you on NPR. I immediately knew you would be a source of info! I was shocked to hear you say that a 15x mirror was a must! Finding it wasn’t easy! I found one on Amazon. I have also used your links to buy a few things and to add more to my wish list. I’m so far behind on my to do’s! Hi Angie. I’m using a similar skin care routine, but my dermatologist said all serums should be applied before Retin A. The serums must touch bare skin (nothing applied beforehand) to really soak in. Have you hear otherwise or done any research on the “order of application” of your various products? Thanks!

  Hi Lisa~ In general I agree with your doc, order is from thinnest to thickest BUT the only exception is Retin-A which is the MOST effective and important item so IMHO it should go first for maximum absorption (unless it gives you irritation, then something under can help with that). xo ~angie

Have you done any more research on the niacinamide and Vitamin C conflicting with each other? I just started Retin – A a few weeks ago and am also using the CeraVe Am lotion as my sunscreen. I want to start to incorporate a Vitamin C serum but am concerned about it using it with the CV AM moisturizer.

  Sorry about that, The Ordinary is an alternative for the CeraVe Skin Renewing Cream Serum. They’re both retinol products but I found the Ordinary 2% a little irritating so I use the CeraVe instead on my neck.

OK, I’ve looked everywhere for this answer and can’t seem to find it. HELP! How do you move up strengths of Retin A? If you are up to a daily use of 0.05%, do you just switch to the 0.1% daily, or do you start back at the once a week, twice a week, 3 times a week routine to build up like you did with the 0.05%?

Thanks so much for all of the hard work you put into your videos! They’re been really informative and most importantly honest.

I was just wondering. How do you use glycolic acid and vitamin c within the same skin regimen? I have really sensitive skin also (eczema, allergies, etc), but would really like to start incoporating more Vit C and Glycolic Acid. Do I need both? I have been using Paula’s Choice 1% retinol for quite awhile and have gotten over any negative effects of that. My skin is very sensitive to her 2% BHA though.

  Hi Mandi~ I use Timeless Vitamin C serum daily and I’ve thus far been fairly unable to tolerate much glycolic acid. I was using the Pixi Glow Tonic once or twice a week and it was fine (not irritating) but I’m not sure it did that much for my skin. With your sensitive skin I’d try incorporating the Vitamin C serum first because it’s a great antioxidant and works differently from retinol + glycolic which are kind of similar in that they both exfoliate & help build collagen. Start one day a week and work up from there with the Vitamin C increasing only when you don’t have any irritation (hopefully you won’t have any). I couldn’t use PC’s 2% BHA either… Good luck! xo ~angie

  Hi Nancy~ Every doctor or spa doing injectables is different with employees with differing levels of experience and expertise so I really can’t say. My advice is to do your research and get recommendations from friends who’ve used them and you like their results. Some will offer a free consultation so you can ask questions and get a feel for the person/facility before you commit. Good luck! ~angie

Hi Angie, Sorry if you have already addressed this. I’m new. Why CeraVe cleanser? I use plain ole’ Cetaphil because it’s non irritating. If you use CeraVe for this reason and have tried Cetaphil, please tell me why you chose the CeraVe. Btw I love your videos/blog. Thanks for being so objective. Christine

Have you ever tried the ZO Skin Health product line and compared to what you are currently using? ZO stands for Zein Obagi. Do you have any suggestions for women in the late 50’s with aging skin that is not a beautiful as yours? I didn’t take care of my skin until I was in my mid-thirties. I was prone to rosacea and adult acne. After a complete hysterectomy in 2005, I started to age faster all over, as I no longer had the bane or the benefit of my hormones.   Hi Carla~ I don’t usually use a primer unless I’m testing new foundation and it needs it for staying power. Currently, all my products are playing nicely together. Have you tried letting your sunscreen set up for 15 minutes before applying makeup? or a different sunscreen?

Hi All, There are two way you can print it:
1. You can right click the image of the printable, select option “open image in new tab” which you can see the image in new tab, and print it with browser printing option.
2. You can right click the image of the printable, select option “save image as..”, than print the save image.

I have used 2nd way and print out just fine. You will likely wear glasses to read it though.:-)

    Another way to print, is to right click the image, Copy, and then paste to a word doc.

  Right click over the picture, choose Save Picture As – You will get another window, which will ask you to save as, leave name as it is, or change the name in the File Name window to what ever you want, and then you will either get Save as Type PNG file, or pick the one you want. Click Save, make sure to save to your desktop so that you can find it after. Then go to your desktop open the file and click on Print. You make want to change your setting to print black and white if your setting are set to print pictures in color.

I just recently found your Utube website and love it. You’re my “go to” person whenever I have questions on skin care products. Thank you.
I just came across your printable version of your current skincare routine and have a question about the Timeless vitamin c serum. On the video you indicate that you put it all over your face, including the under eye area (but not the eyelids). On the printable version you say to avoid eyes, lips, neck, chest and hands?

Would you please clarify since I just ordered and received my Timeless vitamin c.

    hmmm i’m glad the serum mad hippie cream came up as i too like it but recently decided to drop it as it was too small and also had to order it online and with lots of ordinary to try and slot in i didn’t mind dropping it. i am actually liking a lot of the ordinary products and my regular routine is the same as yours with extra ordinary ones i’m trying. loving the alpha arbutin for fading brown spots and sun damage on hands and 2 on face dramatically faded thanks angie for a professional setup site it’s a pleasure to watch and read.

Can I ask why you use the matrixyl serum at night and not morning?
And also why you don’t but tretinoin around your eyes and lips? My doctor said around the eyes is fine, so I was just curious!
