NeoCell Collagen Beauty Builder & Resveratrol Review
Anti-aging supplements have been in the news a lot lately and I was curious to see if they can actually work. So when I was contacted by NeoCell to try their Collagen Beauty Builder supplement, I jumped at the chance!
In addition to the Collagen Beauty Builder they let me choose another supplement to try. I selected their Resveratrol pill because I’m concerned with heart health and anti-aging on the inside as well as on the outside.
One of the reasons our skin shows signs of aging is reduced collagen production and loss of collagen, so if ingesting collagen can help restore some collagen, I’m all for that. I received a bottle of each supplement and took them both for 30 days.
The FDA doesn’t regulate dietary supplements, so the recommended daily dosage suggestions are from the manufacturer. The FDA also doesn’t weigh in on whether these kinds of supplements work or not, so I did a search to find out if there’s any clinical data that proves that the collagen is absorbed by the body and used by the body as collagen and I couldn’t find anything conclusive. So, while I hope it will work, I can’t say for sure if it will… but I don’t think it’ll hurt either!
NeoCell Collagen Beauty Builder ~ $17 for 1 month supply
This supplement is supposed to help your skin retain more moisture, and look smoother & more radiant, as well as help your nails & hair grow faster and stronger! It contains hydrolyzed types I & III collagen, hyaluronic acid, silica (to help transport the ingredients), alpha-lipoid acid, biotin, and vitamin c (to help the body absorb the bollagen). They’re gluten free and also starch, yeast, lactose, soy, wheat, and artificial flavors).
The recommended dosage is 6 tablets a day. I tried to take 3 in the morning and 3 at night but usually I forgot to take the evening dose, plus these pills are BIG! I had to double my morning cup of OJ to take the 6 extra pills (3 collagen, 3 resveratrol in addition to my multivitamin, fish oil, & glucosamine supplements)! So between the size and all the extra pills, I didn’t do a thorough test because I rarely took the full dose of 6 pills a day.
After a month, I can’t say my skin was any smoother or more radiant. It did seem a little more moisturized during that time, and my hair and nails definitely grew faster, but were not necessarily stronger. So this pill for me is a mixed bag. I was mainly hoping for skin benefits which I didn’t really see, and I don’t want my hair or nails to grow faster because it just means more trips to the hairdresser and nail salon for expensive color applications!
NeoCell Resveratrol ~ $17 for 1 month supply
This supplement is supposed to help prevent free-radical damage, support a healthy immune system and liver function, provide powerful antioxidant benefits, promote heart health and may lower cholesterol. It contains red wine grapes from Bordeaux, they’re gluten, starch, yeast, wheat, corn and dairy free.
The recommended dosage is 5 gel-caps a day which provide 100mg of Trans-Resveratrol.
After a month of taking this supplement, I can’t say I felt any different or more youthful, but I do think taking it helped to lower my cholesterol by another 30 points! Last year my total cholesterol was 198, and at this year’s check up, my total cholesterol was 165!! I didn’t change my diet or exercise routine over the year… in fact, I’ve been trying to lower my cholesterol for the last 10 years with diet & exercise alone and while I did get it down from 227 to 198 in the first few years, it hasn’t budged from 198 in 5 years… so why the sudden drop of over 30 points?? To me, it doesn’t seem like a coincidence, it seems like it’s from the resveratrol pills! So THANK YOU NeoCell, I’m going to keep taking these!
