New Glasses, Help Me Choose!! David Kind Glasses

I was recently contacted by David Kind (DAV/D K/ND) glasses to see if I was interested in trying out their at-home frame try-on service. The timing couldn’t have been better as I’ve been out hunting for new glasses for the last 6 months and haven’t found anything I like yet. A quick look at the styles they offer had me hopeful that I’d find my perfect frames at David Kind. I got my at-home try-on set and I need your help to pick which ones I’ll get!

Dav/d K/nd is different from all the other on-line glasses retailers because they match you up with a personal optician who helps you select frames that are right for your face and your vision. Their lenses are also higher quality than most and their frames are curated with an eye toward design and craftsmanship. It’s a smaller collection than you’d see on some of the big eyeglass sites, but I’ve found those to be overwhelming.

My At-Home Try-On Frames Arrived in Days!

I got my first glasses last year after discovering that my drugstore readers just weren’t cutting it anymore. After a few visits to an optician I now wear either multi-focal contact lenses or progressive glasses. I got my glasses at Costco and I never wear them. . . I call them my Mrs. Claus glasses and they make me look and feel old. I love my contacts but my eyes get dry from wearing them and some days I want to give them a break and have a cool pair of glasses that make me feel young and hip!!

The way Dav/d K/nd the service works it you fill out a survey on their web site about your likes and dislikes for styles, colors, and fit. You upload a photo or two to help the optician select frames for you. Then you choose 3 frames to try on at home and your personal optician chooses 3 frames for you. The frames are sent out and you’re trying on 6 beautiful frames within a few days.

The frames are yours to try at your leisure for 6 days (I wore one a day, all day to check the comfort, fit, and see if I got any compliments), after which you ship it back to Dav/d K/nd with the pre-paid shipping label provided. There’s no cost to you and no obligation to buy. There are comment cards with each frame to make notes for your optician.

Once you’ve selected the right frames, all you do is snap a picture with your cell phone and upload it to the Dav/d K/nd app so the optician can make the proper measurements from the photo to make your glasses.

The whole process was so quick and easy, but there’s just one problem. . . I like so many of them that I can’t decide! So, please help me out by leaving a comment with your vote for which frame style you think looks best!

All the frames on the site are the same price so you never have to choose between the ones you love and the ones you can afford. The base price is $295 which includes the frames, HD lenses, and 2 coatings (anti-scratch and anti-glare), the styling, and shipping. There’s an up charge of $80 for progressives (which is what I wear), and you can also get Transitions lenses for $50 more (the ones that darken when you go out in the sun).

I think it’s a good price considering that I paid  $250 for my Mrs. Claus glasses from Costco that I NEVER wear. They’re not only dated frames but the lenses are thick polycarbonate that distorts my vision and are heavy to wear. I can’t wait to see through the high definition free-form lenses that come standard in the Dav/d K/nd glasses!!
