Product Review: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Compact

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Compact

.26 oz product in compact with mirror and application sponge, spf 20, $45.00

LM prod stillI’ve been using Bare Minerals for my foundation for a couple years now, but this winter I’ve been on the hunt for something more moisturizing and in a lighter color. A salesperson at Sephora showed me a few things and I decided to try the Laura Mercier compact in Bisque. Because it’s a cream in a compact, the formulation is thicker than a standard tinted moisturizer, but it does provide semi-transparent coverage. And because it’s thicker, it’s buildable, so you can cover over age spots or redness easily.

Pros:LM apply still

The compact is great to travel with or carry in a purse for on-the-go touch-ups. The product is odorless, and feels light and moisturizing on the skin and it leaves a silky matte finish. It doesn’t settle into fine lines and wrinkles, and it made my pores appear smaller. It stayed in place all day with little transfer onto hands and my phone.

Cons:

The sponge applicator isn’t the best for blending, I use another blending brush to remove the marks from the sponges edges. This compact is priced at the high end of comparable products at Sephora, it’s 3x the cost of a drug store foundation, but still well below the prices of the luxury brands.

LM feel stillAll-in-all a solid product that’s convenient and high quality. The spf of 20 is fine, but unless you are doing a solid mask of product you won’t get full sun protection. Better to apply a higher spf product under this.
