Hi Angie love your videos!
I do not use a liquid or powder makeup. So what mineral sunscreen would you suggest since i don’t have to worry about it working with makeup … also one that is not expensive.

Hi Angie, I have just come across your website and blog and love it! You are a total pro and you are definitely recommending the right stuff! I am obsessed with facial care and in my life time I have tried endless moisturizers, serums foundations etc, I have also tested endless SPFs and the best I can really vouch for is Khiel’s SPF PA +++++, if you haven’t tried it yet you should, it is really good! It moisturizes the skin ( so you can skip the moisturizers) gives a broad protection, does not flake and no white/ghost look!

Hi Angie,

So which is the powder foundation that you like to wear over sunscreen? Is it the Take A Deep Breath Cushion Foundation? I see that Foundation has SPF protection too, so just wanted to make sure. I’ve always shied away from powder foundations because I tend to have dry skin and dry patches, but it’s been a while since I’ve tried one, and maybe it could work for me for when I’m wearing sunscreen. It really looks great on you for sure.

I just want to say thank you for all of your wonderful posts and tutorials!! You’re inspirational and fabulous!

As for sunscreen, I too have gone through sooo many physical sunscreens in search of the “holly grail” product. I was using, and will continue to albeit alternating, Replenix Ultimatte Perfection SPF 50+ (tinted). It goes on wet and silicony but dries to a nice Matt finish. However! Your introduction to Exucience SPF 50++ is also spectacular. It does not have the silicony feel and dries relatively quick leaving a healthy glow to my skin. I love it!! You’re he best!

Is there a non mineral sunscreen that you can recommend? I know they irritate your skin, but wondered if you liked any before they started to sting your skin?

  Sure, I used to use and love the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid SPF 70. It’s lightweight and works great under makeup.

  I just discovered Cotz a mineral sunscreen that goes on like silk and doesn’t break out my
  sensitive skin. They were giving samples at a plastic surgeons office that specializes in skin

Angie – you are so good to keep posting these great informative videos on sunscreen…..curious why you have not tried the Colorescience ALL MINERAL brush on powder sunscreen. I have been using them over the last year – I have oily aging skin. All the creams I think contribute to milia and my skin has difficulty in layering too much on top. It’s helpful to use the Hydrating or Clarifying finishing spray following the powder but it is a great alternative if prone to break out and sensitivity. My dermatologist recommended.
Think about giving it a try. 🙂

Great site! I’m sure many other men are following it but hiding! In any case, as a 43 year old man who just got into anti-aging skincare after switching to a straight razor a few months ago (the straight razor very gently exfoliates rather than irritate like the 5-blade wonders in the drugstores), and started to see that the lower half of my face began looking much younger due to the straight razor. So that’s when I began exploring options for the rest of my face to keep up!

Just wanted to mention that I also spent a fortune on different sunscreens, and settled on the HydroPeptide. The only problem is that I can’t use it if I don’t shave any particular day – the tint shows up on the stubble and looks like makeup. On those days I use the Neutrogena Pure & Free Liquid Daily Sunscreen SPF 50. It goes on incredibly smoothly and the whiteness disappears after gently rubbing it in for a minute or so. I may switch to it 100% of the time since I have a slightly olive skin tone and the HydroPeptide’s tint actually makes my face look paler and a bit unnatural while the Neutrogena is transparent even with a generous amount.

I really enjoy your channel, thank you very much for all the work and that sweetness of yours!
I live in France and BIODERMA came up with an anti-UV mist (hydrabio eau de soin SPF 30) which can be applied over makeup.
I don’t know if it is chemical or mineral … nor if it can be found in the US. Hope this is useful.

I wear the Elta MD sunscreen every day. I wear it under Almay Smart Shade makeup which has SPF 15…I also use a tiny bit of powder to set. It works very well. The sunscreen is almost like using a primer under this lightweight makeup. I started using Elta because of your recommendation from last year. When I went to my dermatologist this year, I was pleased to see that this is the same sunscreen that he recommends. I have also used this sunscreen on my chest when dressing up and wanting to look extra pretty…works very well and gives chest a nice glow.

Hi.. Just a heads up, Dr Neil Schultz from DermTv states that as long as your mineral based sunscreen has micronized zinc, a pea sized amount is all that’s required for the entire face. Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zg-xVFvFZc8

I love your thorough reviews … thank you! I constantly struggle with sunscreens. I’ve never found anything that’s 100% perfect. Right now, I’m wearing the MDSolarSciences Mineral Creme SPF 50 Broad Spectrum UVA-UVB, and you’re so right about it being slippery on the face all day. It sure works, though, in terms of blocking the sun!

I’m reading everywhere that anything over spf30 is not that useful in terms of sun protection–especially for the daily where scenario. Maybe SPF30 to SPF 15 is all we need and easier to find a good product. Olay Complete with 3% zinc oxide (spf 15) is the only thing that won’t break me out!

Loved this post. I haven’t liked wearing sunscreen because of the feel and I know how important it is. I am over 60, stopped tanning when I was 25 and I my skin looks pretty good. I will be giving one of the recommended sunscreens a try.
