Too Faced Natural Matte Palette Review

I picked up the Too Faced Natural Matte Eyeshadow Palette in a recent Ulta haul along with a few other palettes and I’m working my way through using and reviewing them. I haven’t been WOWed by any of them yet so I’m hoping to love the Natural Matte Palette!

The palette retails for $36 and contains 9 matte eye shadows. It’s all contained in an adorable tin box complete with a small mirror and instruction booklet for 3 eyeshadow looks!

There’s a mix of both warm and cool tones in the palette which is divided into 3 horizontal sections called “Day”, “Classic”, and “Fashion” that are meant to be used together. Of course, you can mix and match any way you want. I really like it that the 3 lightest shades are in extra large pans since those are the 3 I’ll be inclined to use for my “everyday” look.

There’s a lot of variation in the shades so you have the ability to create taupe, peach, and rose based looks. Some of my favorite shades are “Honey Butter” which is a warm pumpkin color, “Cashmere Bunny” which is a gorgeous taupe, and “Risque” which is a dark purplish grey.

In my first tutorial with the palette I created a warm fall look starring “Honey Butter”, “Chocolate Cookie”, and “Sexpresso”. Most of the shadows apply easily and deliver good color payoff with the weakest shades being the 2 palest colors “Heaven” and “Lace Teddy” which need to be packed on to really see the color and build opacity. I wish there was a little more differentiation between the two medium brown shades “Cashmere Bunny” and “Nudie” as well.

There is a bit of fallout when applying the shadows but it’s about the same amount I get from the Urban Decay Naked2 Basics palette so it’s not a deal breaker… you just need to tap off the brushes well to avoid getting fallout on your cheeks.

I took this palette with me on my recent trip to St. Maarten and was very happy with it there. It travels well and is everything I needed to go from day to evening looks.

Overall, I think this is a great little palette if you love matte eyeshadow as much as I do. You get a lot of eyeshadow and versatility for the money and the quality is good. Of the 4 palettes I bought in my Ulta haul, this one is rapidly emerging as my favorite!!
