Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Eyeshadow Tutorial
I’ve been trying to keep my eye makeup consistent and simple for the “Foundation Friday for Over 50” videos so I don’t distract from the main topic which is the foundation, but apparently you guys love a subtle eye look so much you’ve been distracted by it anyway and I’ve been bombarded with requests for a tutorial, so here it is!!
There are actually a couple variations on the same theme in the foundation videos to this tutorial will start out basic and build up from there so feel free to stop where you liked it the best or go all the way with me to the final look:
Products used in this tutorial:
- Tarte Clean Slate 360 Creaseless 12-Hour Smoothing Eye Primer*
- Milani Brow Fix Brow Shaping Kit*
- Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Palette*
- Boots No 7 Stay Perfect Shade and Define in Cool Mink*
- Pur Minerals Double Ego Eyeliner in “Swiss Alps”*
- Benefit Roller Lash Mascara*
Step 1:
Squeeze a tiny dollop of Tarte Clean Slate 360 Creaseless 12-Hour Smoothing Eye Primer onto the back of your hand and using your finger, spread a thin layer over the entire eyelid starting at the lash line and blending up to the eyebrows.
Step 2:
While the eyelid primer dries I fill in my brows using the Milani Brow Fix Kit in Light (I use the middle pan) and an angled eyeliner push brush.
Step 3:
Using a small fluffy brush (Beauty Junkees All Over Shader Brush), apply the lightest shade from the palette to the lower eyelid from lashes to the crease using a patting motion. Using what’s left on the brush, apply the shadow just below the eyebrow for a subtle highlight.
Step 4:
Using a soft shadow brush, (Beauty Junkees Pro Crease Brush) apply the 2nd lightest shade from the palette into the crease lifting up on the eyebrow if necessary to smooth the skin (for hooded or crepey lids).
Step 5:
Using a soft shadow brush, (Sephora Shadow Brush #16) apply the 3rd lightest shade in an arc above the crease by pressing the brush into the crease along the outer 1/2 of the eyelid.
Step 6:
Using a clean domed crease brush, (Beauty Junkees Crease Brush) blend the shadows together so there are no skips or hard edges. If you like the soft semi-matte look then stop here and skip down to step 8.
Step 7:
Add brightness and sparkle to the look using Boots No 7 Stay Perfect Shade and Define in Cool Mink. For less shimmer, line upper lash line and lower waterline. For more shimmer, fill in entire eye lid from crease to lashes.
Step 8:
Using the pencil end of Pur Minerals Double Ego Dual Ended Eyeliner in Swiss Alps, line the eyelid along the upper and lower lashes creating a small wing at the outer corner (you can stop here and skip to step 10 or continue on to step 9 to add liquid liner).
Step 9:
Using the line you just drew as a template, dot the liquid liner end of Pur Minerals Double Ego Dual Ended Eyeliner in Swiss Alps along the upper lash line. Turn the pencil so the tip of the brush is facing the eyebrow and gently press onto the previously drawn wing dragging to the outer corner of the eye to create a more defined wing at the outer corner.
Step 10:
Apply 1-2 coats of mascara (Benefit Roller Lash) to upper and lower lashes.
This eyeshadow look is so easy to do and would be flattering on anyone, so I hope you give it a try!
